Association of Practising Pathologists

The VILAC Programme

Welcome to VILAC Programme 2024

The Association of Practising Pathologists was formed in June 2001, by a group of quality conscious pathologists, with post-graduate qualification in Pathology, Biochemistry and/or Microbiology having their own laboratories in the city of Delhi and National Capital Region. Special emphasis was given to Quality Assurance and Continuing Medical Education in the constitution of the association. As on today the Association is a stakeholder in International Laboratory Acc.

Besides organizing seminars and symposia on a quarterly basis the association initiated Voluntary Inter-laboratory Comparison Programme (VILAC), as a tool for demonstrating the Quality and Improvements in the activities of member laboratories. In less than a year of its inception VILAC has developed into a respected and recognized Proficiency Testing Programme in and around Delhi. Thrust of this programme has been quality and not quantity. We expect only participants genuinely interested in improving quality management system of their laboratories.

The APP has an advisory body for VILAC that gets regular feedback from participants for expansion, modification and correction so as to maintain compliance International guidelines-ISO Guide 43.

VILAC is designed to provide the proficiency testing support in the following laboratory specialties:

  • Clinical Biochemistry
  • Hematology including Hb Electrophoresis/Chromatography
  • Immunology including Hormones & Tumor Markers
  • Microbiology including TORCH Profile
  • Any other, as per Suggestions of Advisory body.

In the year 2006 VILAC was certified as per ISO 9001:2000 standard by URS UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services). We feel proud that as on today VILAC is the only ISO Certified programme which covers all the fields of Clinical Laboratory testing.
